This document contains a general outline of instructions to update the security of your PCL Egnyte Cloud Storage account.


Egnyte Password Reset

  • Click the link in the Egnyte Password reset email and follow the prompts to reset your password.

Two Factor Authentication Prompt

  • Next you will see a Two Factor Authentication prompt – click Get Started to begin and follow the prompts
    • Authentication Methods: Users can register using:
      • Time-based One Time Password (TOTP) Authentication:
        Recommended method using an app like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator to get a code.
      • Phone Number: Register your phone number to receive codes via SMS or voice call
  • Setting Up Authenticator App (recommended for a quicker and more secure login)
    • Download an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator to your mobile device.
    • Scan the QR code displayed on the Egnyte registration screen.
    • Enter the code from the app and click Next.
    • A confirmation message will appear, and you can click Continue to access Egnyte.
  • Using Phone Number for Authentication
    • Register the phone number during the setup.
    • Choose between receiving codes via text message or voice call.
    • Enter the received code and click Next.

Logging In

  • With Authenticator App: Enter the code from the app.
  • With Phone Number: Enter the code received via text message or voice call.

Desktop App Login

  • You can use the Two Factor Authentication (Authenticator app or phone number) to log in to the Desktop App after setting it up through the Web UI.
  • You will see a Two Factor Authentication (TFA) popup while adding or authenticating a drive.
